R&B singer Rihanna has been released from hospital after sustaining what police sources describe "horrific" injuries from an alleged attack by boyfriend Chris Brown.
The 20-year-old was reportedly involved in an argument that escalated into an altercation with her singer boyfriend on Saturday evening at Clive Davis' pre-Grammys party in Los Angeles.
Brown, 19, has been bailed over charges of making criminal threats after turning himself into police later on Sunday.
According to TMZ.com witnesses dialled 911 after hearing Rihanna screaming during an incident in her boyfriend's car.
Police officers at the scene said that the Barbadian-born singer sustained trauma to her face and body, including contusions, swelling, bruising and a bloodied nose.
The celebrity website also reported the Umbrella singer had visible bite marks on her arms and fingers.
Rihanna was released from Cedars-Sinai hospital on Monday night but left via a backdoor to avoid photographers. She has already cancelled a sold-out concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday.
Her publicist said the singer was "well" and thanked fans for their concern.
Brown, who was competing against Rihanna for Grammys glory, has already had his lucrative contract with chewing gum firm Wrigley suspended over the allegations.
"Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown," a statement said.
"We believe Mr Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen. However we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and related marketing activity."
He is due on court on March 5th.
