Amelie Mauresmo's hot streak is postponed after rain delayed play in the quarter finals of the Dubai Open.
Mauresmo was 3-2 up in the tie-break in the first set of her clash with Svetlana Kuznetsova. The French star was gunning for a fourth straight tournament victory.
Her 17-match winning run looked to be under threat as Kuznetsova raced to 3-1 and then 5-3 but Mauresmo came back to level the match at 6-6 to force a tie-break.
Mauresmo then powered into a 3-2 lead in the set decider, before the sky darkened and a rare rain storm curtailed the day's play.
The rain stopped after two hours and just as tournament staff had dried the surface a second downpour sent the players heading home for the evening. The disruption means that none of the quarter finals have been played.
The clash of the round which saw Maria Sharapova paired with Martina Hingis was also due out to play today, but fans will have to wait until tomorrow.
Another Russian stroke-maker Maria Kirilenko will play the USA's Lindsay Davenport while Justine Henin-Hardenne will play Francesca Schiavone.
