Areas worst affected by last summer's flooding are on high alert after forecasters warned of heavy rain.
Sixty-five flood warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency, including along the river Severn between Worcester and Tewkesbury.
More than 4,000 homes and 500 businesses were hit by the summer flooding, with many communities still struggling to repair the damage and return to normal.
However, unlike last year, flood defences have been deployed in the most at-risk areas.
The Met Office is warning of heavy rain in Wales, the West Midlands and south-west England, as well as heavy rain and severe gales in London and south-east England.
A statement explained: "The heaviest rain will transfer to northern Scotland later on Tuesday lasting into Wednesday morning.
"The heavy rain could lead to flooding in some areas and cause disruption to transport networks."
A spokesperson added that the "heavy and persistent rain", forecast to reach 25mm in some places, would continue for the rest of the week.
Motorists and rail travellers have also been warned to expect disruption to their journeys throughout the day.
