More than 40,000 tickets for a free Rage Against the Machine Concert to mark the success of the campaign to secure them the UK Christmas number one have been allocated just hours after being made available online.
Fans who had pre-registered for tickets had been able to 'buy' the free tickets online from about 09:00 GMT onwards.
Tens of thousands spent Wednesday frantically perched in front of their computers pressing refresh on their browsers before by about midday all the tickets were allocated.
A message on the booking website said: "All tickets for the Rage Factor have now been allocated. Please do not attempt to buy from eBay or other websites or ticket touts."
The US band announced their plans for a free British show after an online campaign saw their 1992 song Killing in the Name defeat the X Factor winner Joe McElderry in securing the festive title.
Some 40,000 people will attend the show in north London's Finsbury Park on Sunday June 6th, with Rage also announcing this week they would headline the Download festival later that month.
Fans had until midnight on Sunday to register for the Finsbury Park event before tickets were released at 09:00 GMT on Wednesday.
But as with the release of Glastonbury tickets in recent years, thousands of fans were left cursing ticketseller Seetickets as they repeatedly refreshed their online browsers in an attempt to secure entry to the show.
"RATM" became a trending topic on microblogging site Twitter while one disgruntled fan who had faced a morning of his browser crashing and a never-ending loading screen told inthenews.co.uk: "I can't express in words how angry I am."
But another whose friend had managed to get tickets for the two of them said: "I'm extremely pleased. I think the system works really well"
A statement on the website for the concert declares: "Rage Against the Machine reached the Christmas No 1 spot thanks to those that bought the single and now the massive 'Thank you' gig that was promised is finally here.
"The victory marks a stunning upset against the heavily favoured X Factor single. Following the massive Facebook campaign to make the 1992 track top the Christmas charts, RATM will play a concert in celebration of this incredible triumph.
"You spread the word, you swayed the outcome, you made music history."
