French left-back Franck Queudrue has completed a move to Fulham, ending a five-year stay on Teesside to find a fresh challenge.
The transfer had been in the pipeline for several days with Julio Arca signed to replace the former Lens defender in the Middlesbrough defence and Queudrue already training with his new colleagues on their pre-season tour of Austria.
Charlton's last-ditch attempt to hijack the move and divert the 27-year-old across London to the Valley failed as manager Chris Coleman won over his new recruit.
"I met boss Chris Coleman and was impressed with his ambition for the future," Queudrue told Fulham's website.
"He spoke with great passion about what he wanted to achieve long term and I am happy to be part of those plans."
It appears the admiration is mutual as Coleman spoke of his delight at his latest addition to his squad.
"He is a gifted player with great skill, and I know that he will make a difference to our back line," he said.
Although the fee exchanged by the clubs was not disclosed, reports had suggested that agreement was reached on a valuation of around £2 million.
