Man appears in court charged with murder of football fan
A man has appeared in court today charged with the murder of a football fan in Birmingham.

Aston Villa fan Christopher Priest, 26, of Sutton Coldfield, died after being hit by a car in Ashton Hall Road after a game between Birmingham City and Villa in April.

Lee Mockble, 20, of Hall Green, appeared before a Birmingham magistrates' court today to confirm his name.

The 20-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Birmingham crown court on July 10th.

The crown prosecution service has declared that there is no evidence the death of Mr Priest was linked to a rivalry between Aston Villa and Birmingham City fans.

Birmingham lost to Aston Villa 5-1 in their league meeting on April 20th.
