England's Ian Poulter has claimed his first ever WGC-Accenture Match Play title after beating compatriot Paul Casey 4&2 in the final in Arizona.
Poulter, who beat Sergio Garcia in his semi-final, was comfortable for the majority of the 36-hole final against Casey - despite falling behind for the first time in the tournament at only the second hole.
The in-form 34-year-old watched as Casey fired a brilliant approach within a few feet of the hole to sink an eagle putt and move ahead, but from then on Poulter was in control.
By the seventh hole he had overturned Casey's early advantage and gone 2up - doubling the lead by the 14th.
Despite clawing the deficit back to 2up by the end of the first 18 holes a poor start to the second round saw him falter to four holes behind Poulter again.
Even a valiant fightback midway through the second 18, when Casey reduced Poulter's lead to two holes, could not stop the Hertfordshire native - who clinched the win at the 34th.
