A halt to the expansion of speed cameras and a crackdown on rogue wheel clampers are among a new raft of Conservative pledges to win over motorists' votes.
Shadow transport secretary Theresa Villiers said a Tory government would stop the "relentless" growth of fixed speed cameras in local authorities.
She said Labour's dependence on them as a means of traffic control had "blinded them to the effectiveness of the alternatives".
"A Conservative government will focus on tackling the congestion that is costing the economy billions, and the resulting hassle that has made travelling in the UK so grim," Ms Villiers said.
"We will empower road users with the information they need to understand and influence the decisions which affect their daily commute."
Among the other new proposals being put forward by the Tories are a tougher line over road works and shortening the amount of time motorways remain closed after accidents.
