The South London MP was arrested on September 18th
The Crown Prosecution Service has decided not to bring charges against Croydon Central MP Andrew Pelling over accusations that he had beaten his wife.
Conservative party member Mr Pelling was arrested on September 18th after his pregnant wife Lucy claimed that she had been assaulted by the politician.
The 48-year-old's membership of the party was suspended in light of the allegations and the Tories are set to consider his reinstatement after the police's decision.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "A 48-year-old man from Croydon who was arrested on September 18th in connection with allegations of assault has been released from police bail with no further action.
"A thorough investigation was carried out by the community safety unit at Croydon.
"A report was sent to the Crown Prosecution Service, as is routine, and the CPS has taken the decision not to press charges."
