Former Scottish Socialist party MSP Tommy Sheridan has reportedly been charged with perjury.
The 43-year-old was taken into custody earlier today by officers from Lothian and Borders police, who arrested him as he finished his slot on Edinburgh's talk107 radio station.
At the same time his house in Glasgow was being searched, while his wife Gail was given a police caution.
Last year the politician was awarded more than £200,000 in damages after winning his defamation case against the News of the World over allegations of sexual misconduct.
Although the jury returned in favour of Mr Sheridan the case led to the break-up of the Scottish Socialist party and the formation of his own Solidarity.
Neither are represented at Holyrood after failing to win seats in elections earlier this year.
