British police officers investigating the murder of former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko have handed their findings to prosecutors.
The Metropolitan police say that they are not prepared to discuss the contents of the file given to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) earlier today.
Nine officers from the force had been in Moscow for the last two months following up leads into the 43-year-old's death, while investigations have also taken place in the UK.
Mr Litvinenko died at London's University College hospital on November 23rd last year after being poisoned with radioactive isotope polonium-210 (po-210) 22 days earlier.
The former KGB colonel, who had defected to the west and assumed British citizenship prior to his killing, claimed on his deathbed that Russian president Vladimir Putin was behind his poisoning - allegations vigorously denied by the Kremlin.
Last week reports said that the British government would request the extradition of former Russian security operative Andrei Lugovoi to stand trial for Mr Litvinenko's murder.
Mr Lugovoi met the ex-spy four times in the month preceding his death but has categorically denied any suggestions he is implicated in the murder.
