David Cameron has labelled Gordon Brown's government as "utterly dysfunctional" following a spate of mishaps.
Speaking at prime minister's questions today, the Conservative party leader said Mr Brown's premiership was now being dominated by "drift, dithering and incompetence".
Mr Brown came under more pressure from acting Liberal Democrat party leader Vince Cable, who asked him which would "haunt him most"; the Northern Rock crisis or the data loss at HM Revenue and Customs.
The prime minister hit back by accusing Mr Cameron of lacking substance, while he speculated that because of the history of the Liberal party, "it may not be long before [Mr Cable] is back in that place again representing his party".
