The UK will send two British National party MEPs to the European parliament after the far-right party won seats in Yorkshire and the Humber and the north-west.
Party leader Nick Griffin and Andrew Brons, who introduced himself as a political lecturer when he took to the rostrum as an MEP, are the first-ever BNP members to be elected to the European parliament.
"They won't stop us winning the next objective," Mr Brons said.
"This is the first step towards the UK, the British people, getting freedom from the European dictatorship."
