Fernando Alonso said today's podium is an awesome tonic for the Renault team after such a hard week following the World Motor Sport Council's hearing on the 'crashgate' affair.
The Renault team has struggled for pace all weekend, but Alonso took his car to the final podium slot after inheriting places from others' misfortune.
"The result is great for us, it being the first podium of the season," said Alonso.
"The first lap was a little bit stressful.
"I arrived into turn seven and I was fighting with Mark Webber.
"We both ran wide and over the kerb and then Timo Glock benefited from that by overtaking me into turn eight, so because of the battle with Webber I lost a position.
"But not complaints.
"To be fair it is fantastic for us.
"We didn't have the pace to be on the podium all weekend so it's unexpected."
