Manchester United defender Gerard Pique is waiting on negotiations to secure a transfer to Barcelona.
The defender told the Spanish club's website that negotiations for a move to the Nou Camp are at a "very advanced stage".
Pique left Barcelona at the age of 17 to join United in 2004, but is hopeful of a move back to Spain.
"I like the idea of being able to play in a Barcelona shirt again," Pique told the Barcelona website.
"At the moment the decision has to be made by other people... there's nothing official.
"Now we just have to wait for more details," he added.
His comments come as the 21-year-old trains in Barcelona ahead of Argentina's friendly fixture against Catalunya on Saturday.
Recently appointed Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola appears to be a motivation for Pique's move away from Old Trafford.
"A new project is staring with Guardiola and there is a lot of new hope," he said.
"He was a great player and has the character you need to coach a side like Barca."
Pique starred in United's Champions League winning squad this season, scoring for the Reds in their final group game against Roma in December.
The 21-year-old rarely appeared on Sir Alex Ferguson's starting XI team sheet owing to the emergence of a strong central defensive partnership between Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.
Wes Brown and Owen Hargreaves have also been preferred at right back in the absence of injured Gary Neville.
