Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has warned the club's Premiership rivals that there may be more additions to strengthen manager Rafael Benitez's squad ahead of the new season.
With the backing of new American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, Parry has sanctioned over £40 million of spending this summer at Anfield.
The capture of Spanish striker Fernando Torres for a fee of more than £20 million has been the centrepiece of the European Cup finalists summer spree, but there is still finance available for more imports according to the Reds chief.
"A lot of clubs have spent significant amounts of money this summer, like Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea," Parry told the club's official website.
"Then there are a number of other clubs who have recently also had new investors, such as Newcastle, and there's still a long way to go before the end of the transfer window.
"If a player becomes available and he's the right player for this club then yes, we will be interested."
One player who could be set to link up with the Merseysiders is Manchester United left-back Gabriel Heinze.
The Argentine defender is currently threatening to sue the champions in a bid to break his contract and free himself to make the journey down the East Lancs Road.
