Under fire West Ham manager, Alan Pardew has rejected media claims that his job is on the line, after his side's eighth successive loss came last night against Chesterfield in the League Cup.
However, he did recognise that he was under pressure and described the Hammers current run as the worst of his career.
Pardew said: "The Chairman came down to the dressing-room area after the match, put his arm around me and said: 'Come on, we've been here before, we'll sort things out and turn it around'".
Chairman Terence Brown, who was at the game, said he went down immediately to make sure the manager was alright and that he gave both players and coaching staff his full support.
Both men said that they were disappointed that sections of the media had suggested that Pardew was close to losing his job as they claimed that the rumours were not true.
He reflected: "It's not getting any easier and the only way to turn it around is to come out fighting. I intend to do that and I hope the players do too, and not look around and point at somebody else and look for excuses".
The former Reading manager acknowledged that it was results that mattered most in the football business and that he and his team needed a win sooner rather than latter.
West Ham will be looking to turn things round on Sunday when they take on Blackburn at home.
