Pakistan have won the first of two one-day internationals against India in Abu Dhabi by six wickets.

Shoaib Malik took 3-40 to help bowl India out for 197 before Younis Khan hit an unbeaten 71 to guide Pakistan home with nine balls to spare.

Having won the toss, India got off to a steady start before Robin Uthappa, playing only his second game for his country, was out for 12, caught by Mohammad Yousef off the bowling of Rana Naved-ul-Hasan.

Rahul Dravid (20) and Irfan Pathan (26) were both run out in between the dismissal of Yuvraj Singh for seven to leave India wobbling on 72-4.

However, a partnership of 64 between Venugopal Rao (61 not out) and Suresh Raina helped to rebuild the Indian innings before Raina offered a catch to Iftikhar Anjum off the bowling of Shahid Afridi when on 40.

Rao was then left to watch as the Indian lower-order fell away, with Agit Agarkar (12) the only man to reach double-figures.

In reply, Imran Farhat began aggressively and while Malik was out for 12, Farhat made 30 before he was bowled by Agarkar.

However, Khan and Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq put on 86 for the third wicket to take the game away from India.

Inzamam was eventually out for 40 when he was caught by Rao off the bowling of Romesh Powar and while Yousef soon followed for one when he edged behind to give Agarkar his second wicket, wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal then smashed 24 off 34 balls as he and Khan saw the Pakistanis home.track
