Former England opener Chris Broad has been branded a liar by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over comments he made regarding the terrorist attacks in Lahore.
Broad, who was serving as the match referee for the game between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, was caught up in the gunfire after terrorists attacked the Sri Lankan team bus.
The 51-year-old was travelling in a bus behind with fellow match officials and saw the bus driver killed and witnessed fourth umpire Ahsan Raza get hit with a bullet in the stomach, he is now in hospital in critical condition.
An angry Broad said there was "not a sign of a policeman anywhere," and this left him and his fellow officials "sitting ducks" for the terrorists.
"It is very unfortunate what he has said," said Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ejaz Butt. "All he has said is totally untrue and fabricated.
"Broad has made some obnoxious comments. How can he say there was no security. It is a big lie that there were no policeman. Policemen lost their lives and 10 were injured trying to protect the players and officials.
"The team and officials got the same security which was given to them during the one-day series in January. Broad himself praised the security arrangements then."
Butt added that he will be making an official complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the comments Broad made.
