Martin O'Neill has dismissed speculation that striker Henrik Larsson will join Aston Villa.
Larsson, who scored 173 goals in 218 league games for SPL champions Celtic, starred during O' Neill's spell at Parkhead.
The 36-year-old left European champions Barcelona in the summer to return to his native Sweden at Helsingborg.
O' Neill said the rumour stemmed from his meeting with Larsson at a football bash.
"I was in Scotland last night, John Robertson and Henrik Larsson were inducted into Scotland's Hall of Fame which is a great honour for them and is fantastic," he told Sky Sports News.
"And maybe that might be where you are running that line that Henrik Larsson may be about to sign.
"Let me tell you, there is not an ounce of truth in it. Absolutely none. So if you could quell that rumour as quickly as possible it would be great."
The Ulsterman added that Larsson has nothing more to achieve in the game.
"I was sat at the same table as Henrik and he is pretty happy with how his career has gone," he said.
"He was wonderful at Celtic and did well at Barcelona, coming on in the final and helping them win the Champions League against Arsenal."
Villa will be looking to continue their impressive start to the season against in form Wigan at the JJB Stadium on Sunday.
