A female nursery worker has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault upon a child in Leeds.

West Yorkshire police said the 32-year-old woman has been bailed after being arrested on Friday.

"West Yorkshire police child and public protection unit is carrying out an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a child at a nursery in the south Leeds area," a spokeswoman said.

"A 32-year-old woman from Leeds was arrested last Friday and has since been bailed pending further enquiries."

Police sources indicated that the arrest was thought to centre on an "isolated incident" but stressed the investigation was at an early stage.
