Tuesday, 28 Feb 2006 17:11
Two British soldiers have been killed in Iraq, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed.

No details have been released about the two fatalities as the next of kin are currently being informed, an MoD spokeswoman said.

The incident occurred in the southern city of al-Amarah and is believed to have been caused by a roadside bomb.

Another soldier was also injured, but is not thought to be in a life-threatening situation.

The incident is currently under investigation, the MoD added.

These latest deaths bring the total number of British servicemen killed in Iraq since March 2003 to 103.

Corporal Gordon Alexander Pritchard, who died on January 31st this year, was the 100th British military fatality in Iraq and his death led to renewed calls for Britain to bring its troops home.track
