Heather Mills has denied reports that she has agreed to a £32 million out-of-court settlement with her estranged husband Sir Paul McCartney.

Sunday tabloid the News of the World claimed yesterday that the former model and animal rights campaigner had agreed to the payment - made up of cash and property - working out as roughly £1,000 an hour for her four-year marriage to the former Beatle.

The paper said that Lady Mills was "delighted" with the deal. Under the alleged terms she was said to be set to receive a £4 million home in St John's Wood, north-west London, and Sir Paul's £6 million property in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.

But a statement from her lawyers Mischon de Reya has said that she has not even been offered a settlement, let alone agreed to one.

"With regard to the article in yesterday's News of the World, we would like to state that there has been no offer made whatsoever at any time to our client and therefore no settlement has been agreed," the statement said.

It is not the first time that her lawyers have had to speak out on behalf of Lady Mills. In October last year they announced that she was to sue a number of British newspapers over "false, damaging and immensely upsetting" claims relating to her divorce from Sir Paul.
