Busta Rhymes has been arrested after a man claimed that the hip hop star beat him up over a dispute over money.
Manhattan police said that Rhymes, real name Trevor Smith, handed himself in yesterday to the station and was charged with assault.
It is claimed that a man, who has not been named, had to receive hospital treatment after being punched and kicked by Rhymes in New York on December 26th.
Rhymes' manager Chris Lighty told AllHipHop.com: "We are totally innocent of this charge being thrust upon Busta Rhymes and [we] look forward to putting this past us as soon as possible."
According to the music website, Rhymes had just returned from performing in the African country of Angola.
His lawyer has declined to comment on the December incident, it has been reported.
Rhymes is facing separate assault charges for an incident involving a teenager last autumn.
Police have also tried to question him over a shooting last February which left his long term bodyguard dead.
Rhymes' hits include Pass The Courvoisier and I Know What You Want.
