Myleene Klass is reported to have been left "aghast" after being warned by police after waving a knife at intruders in her garden.
Reports claim the Marks & Spencer model was alone in her kitchen while her two-year-old daughter slept upstairs, when she spotted two teenagers in her garden.
It is believed Klass grabbed a knife and banged on the window to scare the intruders away, at around midnight on Friday. After allegedly attempting to break into her shed, the youths ran away.
The 31-year-old celebrity called police to her home in Hertfordshire, and is believed to have been told she should not have used a knife to scare the youths, because it is illegal to "carry an offensive weapon".
Following the incident, Klass's agent Jonathan Shalit, told the Sunday Telegraph the ex-Hearsay singer was "shaken and utterly terrified" by the incident. He said: "Myleene was aghast when she was told that the law did not allow her to defend herself in her own home. All she did was scream loudly and wave the knife to try and frighten them off."
Hertfordshire police has said no reference was made on the incident report about a weapon. Police said: "Officers were in attendance and checked the property. There was no one around although they could see footprints in the snow. Words of advice were given in relation to ensuring suspicious behaviour is reported immediately."
Klass is reported to have told Sky News in a statement: "My family are totally fine and I thank the police for being so re-assuring and comforting.
"However, I was left shocked and surprised to be told that a private individual in the privacy of their own home runs the risk of committing a criminal offence if, out of fear for their own safety and their loved ones, they grab something with which they could defend themselves if an intruder enters their home."
