Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts has said that people can mistake her shyness for rudeness.

Speaking to OK magazine, the singer revealed that she finds it difficult to look cheerful when she's not feeling relaxed.

"I can be very shy. If I don't feel comfortable, I might come across as miserable. I don't want to put my foot in it. I am getting better and feel more confident," she said.

"That's one of my downfalls. It can get me into trouble sometimes. But I would rather that than people think, she's dancing around being fake. I'd rather people knew that what they see is what they get."

The 24-year-old recently launched her own make-up line aimed at people with pale skin tones.

She spent 18 months helping to develop the line, which is now being stocked by London department store Harrods.

The Dainty Doll collection features products priced between £10 and £20.
