The final instalment in the Twilight franchise, Breaking Dawn, is to be directed by Bill Condon, it has been announced.
The Dreamgirls director, who won a best adapted screenplay Oscar for Gods and Monsters in 1999, has been confirmed to bring the fourth and final book of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling series to the screen.
"I'm very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life onscreen," said Condon after Summit Entertainment announced his appointment.
"As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book -- and we're hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience."
Summit production president Erik Feig added: "Bringing Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand, and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity."
Melissa Rosenberg is adapting Meyer's novel for the screen while lead actors Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are all scheduled to return.
However, it has not yet been confirmed if Breaking Dawn - as has been widely rumoured - will be split into two films.
Speaking after receiving the Orange Rising Star award at the Baftas in February, Stewart confirmed the decision over splitting Breaking Dawn into two films remained "up in the air".
The third film in The Twilight Saga, Eclipse, will be released on June 30th.
