Andy Murray has been forced to wait until Wednesday before deciding whether he is fit to play in Great Britain's Davis Cup tie against Serbia & Montenegro next Friday.
A scan has revealed that the Scottish teenager damaged ankle ligaments at the Nasdaq 100 Open in Miami last week.
He slipped and split the brace he has worn on his ankle since last summer on the way to a first-round defeat by Stanislas Wawrinka.
Murray, 18, said: "The ligaments have not fully healed so we will need to monitor my progress on a daily basis.
"I will practise with the team and continue the rehabilitation with caution so as not to aggravate it.
"I will re-assess the injury on Wednesday after practice to determine whether or not I am fit to play on Friday."
The Davis Cup tie will take place in Glasgow, with Murray, Greg Rusedski, Arvind Parmar and James Auckland named in the team.
Murray grabbed the headlines in February when he beat Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt to win the SAP Open in San Jose.
At the end of February, he became British number one for the first time in his career, overtaking the out-of-form Tim Henman.
Meanwhile, Croatian Ivan Ljubicic swept into the last four of the Nasdaq-100 Open with a 7-6 6-3 win over Agustin Calleri.
Ljubicic will meet third seed David Nalbandian in the semi final after the Argentine overcame Mario Ancic 6-2 6-2 in the day's other quarter final.
