Andy Murray was pleased to win his third Masters crown in Miami where he has a home and trains during the winter.
Murray said living in Miami and being able to return to his own home during the tournament had helped him during his sensational run to the title.
He also said he had received great support during the ten days of the tournament.
"It was great. I've got a place near to here. It's like you say, a second home. It's obviously helped me and I've got great support the last few days," said the Scot.
Murray dominate the first set but lost his way slightly during the second set before regaining his form to win 6-2 7-5.
The British number one said Djokovic's tactic of serve and volleying had caused him some trouble.
He added: "The conditions here are so tricky. He started to come to the net a lot more [in the second set], and I lost my timing a little bit."
Having secured his third Masters series title and his 11th ATP tour title of his career, Murray says he hopes to make a breakthrough and win a grand slam title soon.
He said: "I hope so. But there are so many great players right now. It'd be nice to get in there and take one."
Murray's next appearance will be in the next Masters Series event in Marseille on clay.
