Scotland's Andy Murray has continued his recent good form with a shock straight-sets win over world number one Roger Federer at the Cincinnati Masters.
Federer was not at his best but the world number 21 took full advantage with a fantastic performance to win 7-5 6-4 in one hour and 37 minutes.
Murray becomes only the second player this year to beat the Swiss man, after world number two Rafael Nadal, and at the same time broke Federer's run of 17 straight finals, one short of Ivan Lendi's record of 18.
It has also been two years and 55 matches since Federer lost on hardcourts in North America, when he lost to Dominik Hrbaty in the first round at the same tournament in 2004.
Federer's serve was his downfall, with Murray breaking him four times in the first set.
However, it wasn't until the 11th game where the 19-year-old gained the decisive break and he held on to take the first set.
A similar story punctuated the second as Murray broke the world number one twice more, only for Federer to come back to level the match.
However, the Scot broke for a third time in the ninth game and completed the best win of his career.
He will now face 15th-seeded American Robby Ginepri or Dmitry Tursunov of Russia.
