Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck thinks it is unlikely Jose Mourinho will return to manage the club for a second time.
Buck revealed that Chelsea have already started to search for a new manager as he reiterated that Guus Hiddink will not be staying at the club after his contract ends at the end of the season.
Some media reports have suggested that former Blues boss Mourinho could make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge. But Buck felt that would not happen, especially after Mourinho fell out with the Chelsea board towards the end of his stay at the club.
"My honest answer is that I don't think it is likely to happen," said Buck. "Jose was a great coach, he is a great guy, but I think his time at Chelsea Football Club has passed.
"The board and Jose were not seeing eye-to-eye on a number of things and it was time we parted company."
On the future of Hiddink, Buck said: "Guus Hiddink came here on a temporary basis two months ago and it is thanks to the Russian FA that he was able to come here. It is purely a temporary role.
"There has been a lot of speculation about him staying, particularly as he has been doing a great job. That will not be the case."
AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is reported to be Chelsea's number one target, although it is thought that Spanish giants Real Madrid are also interested in the Italian.
