Jose Mourinho dedicated Chelsea's win against Barcelona to the bereaved family of a Chelsea member of staff who was the victim in a road accident.
Speaking after the game Mourinho and scorer of the winning goal Didier Drogba described how they were told of the accident before the game.
Mourinho said she was, "a lovely girl working at the club, sharing a few moments with us at the training ground". Drogba added that the players' reaction was typical of the "Chelsea family" and that their thoughts were with the girl's relatives.
The striker said after the game: "We needed three points for Petr [Cech] and Carlo [Cudicini] and for the girl who died who worked for Chelsea. It's difficult, it is dedicated to her family."
Reluctant to talk too much about the game, the Chelsea manager described the win as great in terms of the team's performance on the field.
He added: "I think the team were magnificent, from a tactical point of view, the attention to everything we spoke about and the unbelievable commitment."
Mourinho was keen to point to the significance of Chelsea's victory, explaining that Chelsea have dealt Barcelona their last two defeats in the competition.
"Today the pitch was beautiful, it was 11 against 11, Chelsea was the best team and Chelsea deserves the victory," he concluded.
The Blues now have the upper hand in the group and Mourinho has set his sights on finishing top of group A.
