French prison drama A Prophet leads the way at this year's European film awards (EFAs) with six nominations.
Lead actor Tahar Rahim is up for best actor, while director Jacques Audiard and the movie itself are also nominated in their respective categories.
The powerful drama, about a young Muslim inmate winning the support of a Corsican prison gang, is a strong contender for Oscar success having already won the top prizes at the Cannes and London film festivals.
Elsewhere in the EFAs, Kate Winslet is nominated for best actress for her role in Holocaust drama The Reader, for which she won an Oscar earlier this year.
Winslet, recently given a value of £60 million for the British economy by the UK Film Council in a unique audit, is up against British teenager Katie Jarvis, who won plaudits for her breakthrough role in Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank.
Another former Oscar winner, Dannie Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, is up for five nominations, including best director and best actor for Dev Patel.
The winners of the EFAs will be held on December 9th in Bochum, Germany.
