Sussex have announced the signing of England spinner Monty Panesar from Northamptonshire on a three-year contract from the beginning of next season.
Panesar makes the switch to Hove after eight years at Northants, which saw him earn England honours in 2006 after a rapid rise through the county ranks.
The 27-year-old has recently found himself ousted from the international squad due to the form of Graeme Swann and the emergence of all-rounder Adil Rashid, as well as a dip in his own level of performance.
But the spinner says he is keen to use the move to kick-start his bid for further England caps.
"I am extremely grateful to Northamptonshire for all their support in my career so far and also for allowing me to make this move," Panesar said.
"Success in this new challenge with Sussex can only improve my chances of reclaiming my place in the England standings, which is the pinnacle for any player."
In a bid to recapture his form, Panesar will be spending the winter season in South Africa playing for first-class side Highveld Lions before returning to England.
And Sussex cricket manager Mark Robinson said he is "very excited about the prospect of Monty joining us".
"It is a testament to the club that we are able to attract a player of Monty's calibre and I am sure he will play a key part in helping us achieve our aims for the coming season."
