The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the death of another UK soldier in Afghanistan on Sunday, taking the death-toll since Friday to four.
Riflemen Jonathan Allott and Liam Maughan have already been identified as the two UK soldiers killed on Friday and Saturday.
Yesterday the MoD said a third as-yet unnamed soldier had been killed and on Monday it announced the death of a fourth in an unrelated incident.
The soldier, whose next of kin have been informed, was from One Rifles serving as part of Three Rifles battle group when he was caught in an explosion during a routine patrol 3km south of Sangin district centre in Helmand province.
Spokesman for Taskforce Helmand Lieutenant Colonel David Wakfield said: "It is with a heavy heart I must inform you of the death of a second British soldier in a separate incident yesterday, in the Sangin area of northern Helmand province.
"We have lost one of our comrades and he will be sorely missed but his boldness and his selfless commitment to this fight will not be forgotten."
None of the four deaths are connected with Operation Moshtarak, the MoD said.
The UK death-toll in Afghanistan since 2001 now stands at 272.
