Miners tip FTSE 100 down at close of play

The FTSE 100 ended Thursday slightly down, dropping 14.39 points.
The London index ended the day on 5,313.00 - a fall of 0.27 per cent.
The biggest loser on the day was the mining sector, with copper-producer Xstrata down 3.83 per cent to 1,104p
Rio Tinto also dropped 108 points to 3,183.50.
Leading the gains, despite all the debate about its banker's bonuses, was Royal Bank of Scotland - up 4.71 per cent, 1.58 points, to 35,13p.
Lloyds Banking Group also experienced an impressive day's trading, up 4.43 per cent to 55.45p.
