Miners slump in afternoon trading sending FTSE 100 down

A slump by the mining sector on Tuesday afternoon saw the FTSE 100 end the day down over half a per cent.
At the close of play the London index stood at 5,315.09, a fall of 36.98 points, or 0.69 per cent.
Eurasian Natural Resources Corp suffered the worst drop of the day, slipping 3.76 per cent.
Xstrata and Fresnillo were also down 3.39 per cent and 3.34 per cent respectively.
The building materials group Wolseley posted the day's best results on the back of an announcement that profits may be better than expected.
Shares leapt 12.49 per cent, or 181 points, through the day.
Intertek Group and Smith and Nephew also performed well, up 5.75 per cent and 1.43 per cent.
