Miners help FTSE 100 record strong start to week

The mining sector helped the FTSE 100 register a strong start to the week on Monday morning, rising 0.69 per cent in early trading.
At 10:36 GMT the London index stood at 5,391.73 - a rise of 37.21 points.
Leading the gains was Kazakhmys, which rose 3.95 per cent to 1,394p.
Eurasian Natural Resources Corp and Fresnillo also recorded impressive rises, up 3.51 per cent and 3.46 per cent respectively.
HSBC Holdings recorded the biggest slump in morning trading, falling 4.25 per cent to 689p.
Standard Chartered and Aviva also slipped 2.82 per cent and 2.72 per cent.
