AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi is still hopeful of snatching Andrei Shevchenko back from Chelsea just a season after letting the Ukrainian leave the San Siro.
The Rossoneri chief is under pressure to add new attacking options to his squad after loaning Ricardo Oliveira, Shevchenko's £18 million replacement last summer, to Real Zaragoza after a misfiring first season in Serie A.
Despite the Blues' £30 million investment in Shevchenko it is believed that the Stamford Bridge hierarchy may be prepared to cut their losses after the 30-year-old struggled to find his feet in the Premiership and fell out of favour with manager Jose Mourinho.
"We expressed our liking for his possible return, but the problem is Chelsea. We are waiting for something that could move," the former Italian prime minister said.
The other Chelsea striker on Berlusconi's well-publicised list of targets - Didier Drogba - seems a less likely option with a contract in place tying him to west London until 2010.
The Barcelona duo of Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho also seem set to stay with their present employers, leaving the European champions with Brazilian youngster Alexandre Pato, currently with Internacional in his home country, as the most realistic candidate to join compatriot Ronaldo up front.
"Pato? He's a promising player in world football and we have the intention to go for him," Berlusconi admitted.
