Reports have suggested Michael Jackson's doctor could be charged with manslaughter over the legendary singer's death.
US media claim prosecutors are set to file a criminal complaint against Conrad Murray.
If charged, a judge will then have to decide whether Dr Murray should go on trial. His lawyer has said he would be willing to hand himself over to authorities if required.
There has been fierce media speculation over the cause of Jackson's death last year. The iconic singer died in Lose Angeles at the age of 50 in June 2009 from a suspected anaesthetic overdose.
The death was ruled a homicide with Dr Murray maintaining he neither prescribed nor administered anything that would have killed the Thriller star.
Commenting on the speculation of criminal charges, his spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik said: "Dr Murray is in Los Angeles for a dual purpose - on family business and to be available for law enforcement. We're trying to be as cooperative as we can."
Jackson hired Dr Murray in the build-up to planned residency at London's O2 arena last summer. The King of Pop collapsed at his home on June 25th and later died in hospital.
