A Metropolitan police officer has been arrested in connection with an alleged rape.

A statement from the police force said the alleged incident occurred on Wednesday between 18:00 and 20:00 BST in Islington, north London.

The man arrested is still in police custody in a central London police station.

The Met said the officer had been suspended pending further enquiries.

Officers from the force's directorate of professional standards are investigating the claims.
