Former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric expects Harry Redknapp to leave the south coast to become the new Newcastle manager.
Redknapp is thought to be Newcastle owner Mike Ashley's first choice to take over at St James' Park and Mandaric thinks the 60-year-old would do a good job if he was to move up north.
"I don't want him to leave Portsmouth, but there is a certain indication that he will go to Newcastle," said Mandaric.
"Maybe I am prejudice, but as far as I'm concerned he is a magic guy as far as how to select the players and how to get the best out of them.
"I don't think anyone is better than Harry and if he goes there. I think he will do a better job than a lot of people.
"No disrespect to previous managers, they are all good people, but Harry is magic as far as that goes."
Redknapp, however, has denied that Newcastle have contacted him in regards to replacing Sam Allardyce, who was sacked on Wednesday.
The Pompey boss insisted that he was still focused on his current club, saying: "There has been no approach. All I'm doing is trying to get a couple of players in before the Sunderland game [on Sunday] but I haven't got anywhere with that."
Blackburn manager Mark Hughes and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer are thought to be the other favourites to become the new manager at St James' Park.
