Two young boys whose bodies were found in Manchester this week were stabbed to death, post-mortems have shown.
The bodies of brothers Romario Mullings-Sewell, two, and Delayno, three months, were discovered at an address in Cheetham Hill on the evening of Wednesday November 12th.
"Both children died as a result of a single stab wound to their chest," a statement from Greater Manchester police (GMP) said on Saturday.
Their mother, 21, is currently detained under the Mental Health Act after previously being arrested on suspicion of murder.
Officers from GMP attended the address after receiving phonecalls expressing concern over the welfare of the boys' mother.
However it has emerged that officers left the property after knocking at the door and receiving no answer. Hours later both boys were dead, with GMP's conduct now subject to an Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigation.
A statement from the victims' family said relatives were "struggling to come to terms with the tragic events".
"Everybody is completely devastated. We hope that wherever they've gone to they're at peace."
