A man has been killed and a teenager hospitalised in two separate shootings on Christmas Eve, while two men are fighting for their lives after being stabbed.
The Metropolitan police said a 20-year-old man had died in west London close to Queens Park Rangers' stadium Loftus Road.
A statement said that the victim, identified as Craig Brown from Shepherd's Bush, was shot after returning home from a Christmas shopping trip.
"As he unloaded goods from the car he was approached by two men who shot him before making off on foot down Loftus Road," the Met said.
Mr Brown was pronounced dead at the scene at about 17:30 GMT, 40 minutes after police and ambulance staff were called.
Meanwhile a 16-year-old boy is spending Christmas Day in hospital after being shot in Chesham Crescent, Moorside, Greater Manchester.
Greater Manchester police (GMP) said the teenager was shot at 17:00 GMT in the buttock, with his injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
"It is believed that the offender, described as white, in his early 20s with short hair, shouted to the victim before shooting at him and leaving the scene on foot," a GMP statement said.
Both police forces are appealing to any eyewitnesses to come forward.
GMP have also released details of a double stabbing at a restaurant in Middleton that left two men in a critical condition and a third with a slash wound to his check.
In the early hours of this morning the two victims, aged 22 and 23, were attacked by two men they had earlier had an altercation with at a nearby pub.
The 23-year-old was stabbed several times in the stomach while the other victim was stabbed in the stomach and the back of his neck.
The younger man managed to leave the Akash restaurant on Market Place before collapsing on Long Street.
The offenders are described as white men in their early to mid 20s, with detectives keen to trace a light coloured, small hatchback car seen driving away from the restaurant shortly afterwards.
Detective Inspector John Mazzolai said: "Two young men's lives are in danger this Christmas morning following this terrible incident.
"We would like to reassure communities that we are confident of closing in on the offenders, but still need people to come forward with information.
"You can speak to the police in confidence, as we will be able ensure that you remain anonymous and protected."
