A man has been found guilty today of stabbing to death his ex-lover after seeing a picture of her on Facebook with her new boyfriend.
Paul Bristol, 25, was found guilty at the Old Bailey of murdering Camille Mathurasingh, 27, in April 2009.
Bristol was told he must spend at least 22 years in jail for the murder, which the court heard was prompted when he saw a photograph of his ex-girlfriend with her new lover on Facebook.
The court heard that he flew from Trinidad to England to confront his former partner over her new relationship with Besim Haxhia. He then stabbed Ms Mathurasingh 20 times at her home in Bow, east London, before cutting himself and crashing her car.
Judge Timothy Pontius told him: "Clearly you were eaten up by jealousy."
Bristol had denied murder, and said it was an act of manslaughter through provocation.
