Carlos Tevez scored a hat-trick as Manchester City thrashed Blackburn Rovers and forced their way into the top four of the Premier League.
The Argentinean international, who was honoured before the game with the player of the month award for December, put City ahead with a close-range finish after just seven minutes before Micah Richards doubled the advantage.
Tevez gave the home side some breathing room when he finished with aplomb from outside the area.
And although Morten Gamst Pedersen pulled a goal back with 20 minutes left, the South American striker completed the scoring in injury time to put City into the Champions League places.
The result extends Roberto Mancini's winning start as head coach at Eastlands to four games, although Pedersen's goal is the first City have conceded under Mancini.
