London Irish kept up their unbeaten run in the European Challenge Cup with a thumping 59-7 win over Dax this evening.
Elvis Seveali'i and Warren Fury grabbed two tries each and England star Delon Armitage was also on the scoresheet after his return from international duty.
Winger Topsy Ojo and man-of-the-match James Hudson also scored a try each, while Peter Hewat had an individual haul of 24 points. Hewat scored a try, kicked a penalty, and converted the eight tries that Irish scored.
Despite the huge difference in the scoreline, it was Dax who had the opening scoring chance. Antoine Vignau Tuquet missed a penalty in the first minute and it was all one-way traffic from there.
Seveali'I scored the first try for Irish after just four minutes as he picked the ball up in midfield and waltzed his way through a number of lazy tackles from the Dax defence.
The Dax defence were all at sea and Irish took advantage with their second try nine minutes later. Alfredo Lalanne took a high ball before he, like Seveali'I earlier, almost walked through the Dax defence before passing the ball to Hudson to score.
Despite enjoying the majority of possession, Irish got lazy towards the second-half of the first period and were unable to score any more tries as they went in 17-0 up.
It was a completely different story in the second-half as Irish went rampant and ran in six more tries. Delon Armitage had a simple run to the try-line after the Irish forwards did well to recycle the ball after Bob Casey and Hewat went close to scoring.
Irish substitute Fury scored a brace of tries after being on the pitch for only two minutes, with Ojo and Hewat adding further late tries. Dax did manage to get a consolation try through Jannie Bornman.
