Ryan Lamb kicked six penalties as London Irish ran out 18-12 winners against Leicester Tigers.
Three penalties from Lamb in response to Jeremy Staunton's opening penalty gave Irish a narrow 9-3 half-time lead.
Neither side looked like scoring with defences well on top in the second period and three penalties from both sides gave the
Exiles an 18-12 win with the Tigers picking up a losing bonus point.
Delon Armitage went close early on but was kept out by some last ditch Tigers defending before Lamb screwed a penalty kick wide of the posts.
On 15 minutes Leicester took the lead when Staunton converted a penalty after the Exiles were adjudged to have encroached from a scrum.
Five minutes later and it was all square with Lamb slotting a three-pointer after Martin Castrogiovanni was penalised at the breakdown.
The hosts were beginning to take control and stretched their lead with two more penalties before half-time, Lamb punishing the indiscipline of the Tigers forwards.
Jordan Crane was adjudged to have held on to the ball which gave Lamb the opportunity to stretch the lead to 12-3 before the
Exiles defence is caught offside allowing Staunton to reduce the arrears on the hour mark.
Lamb was again on target with his fifth penalty of the afternoon after Lewis Moody fails to bind at the scrum only for Staunton again to keep the Tigers in the game with a penalty with ten minutes to go.
The home fans' nerves were calmed with six minutes remaining as Lamb kicked yet another penalty to stretch the lead to six and put the game beyond Leicester.
Lamb missed a last-minute penalty which would have denied the Tigers a bonus point but his kick drifted wide leaving the final score 18-12.
