Liverpool have ruled out the possibility of selling Spanish striker Fernando Torres after the player was linked with a move to rivals Chelsea.

Torres, who is currently in Austria and Switzerland playing for Spain, has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for a sum as big as £50 million.

But Tom Hicks, the club's co-owner, said there was no chance that the striker would be leaving Anfield, whatever the price.

"There is no price at which we would consider selling Fernando Torres," he said.

"The Chelsea rumours in the media are total rubbish," Hicks explained.

Speculation about Torres' future has increased since Luiz Felipe Scolari was appointed as the new Chelsea boss, but the Spaniard, who scored 33 goals in his debut season will be staying put.

Torres has also moved to crush speculation linking him away from the Merseyside club after he said last week that he would not leave the club.

"I have no intention of leaving. We have to focus our energies to give the little step we need to get to the top teams," he said.

Chelsea have also been linked with AC Milan's Kaka and Barcelona's Deco with the latter being the most likely transfer target.

Deco has been told he can leave Barcelona in the summer with Scolari, the current Portugal manager, expected to fight it out with Internazionale boss Jose Mourinho for the former Porto player's signature.
