Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has revealed that Steven Gerrard is a doubt for the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea on Tuesday.
Gerrard sat out his side's 2-0 win against Fulham in the Premier League today with a neck injury and Benitez is unsure if the injury will heal in time for the Chelsea game.
"We don't know at the moment," said Benitez. "Steven is working with the physios. He is improving but it is still too soon. You always have to be careful with the neck.
"He has been heading the ball a lot in training and could not play today. We will have to see how he is next week."
Defender Sami Hyypia suffered a head injury in the game against Fulham and Javier Mascherano took a few knocks, but Benitez is confident that the pair will be fit for Tuesday night.
Benitez also said that he had already signed a senior player for next season and was looking to add more players to his squad for next season.
"We have some signings for the next season done. They are senior players for the first team and young players for the first team and reserve team," said Benitez.
"Two of them are really close, young players, and one senior player is done. He talks good English, but is not English."
The boardroom unrest at Liverpool had led to reports claiming that Benitez was contemplating his future, but it now seems that the Spaniard will stay and has already turned his attention to next season.
